“Truly great art is an outward expression of the innermost soul of a people: an expression of that people’s yearnings and ideals, of it’s deepest hopes and joys, of its meaning and purpose.”
-B. John Zavrel
I wish for the work that inspires my every day. I wish for it to contain within itself elements of its creator and its viewer. To evoke feelings of hope and wonder, and to radiate a deep sense of integrity. I wish for this work to supply to all who experience it a sense of movement that escalates where words fall short. …for when successful, art exists as its own entity – a force onto itself. As eternal as time and as ever-present as all of the energies of this universe. I wish for my work to possess this power and timeless-ness. To embody something far greater than me…
As a photographer, I strive to channel the energy of what I am witnessing through my heart and back out again. My goal is to be honest with what I am experiencing. To dismiss any preconceived notions and approach each event – each frame – with the curiosity of a child. In doing this, I am successful in celebrating life in all of it’s glory. I am paying tribute to the greatest gift of all.
This is why I do what I do…and what I wish for when I close my eyes tight.
