Love.  It’s all about the love.  Warm embraces, smiles stretched across faces and tears of joy.  …copious tears of joy.  Corinne and Matt’s most beautiful day was just that – most beautiful.  What a privilege to have witnessed and participated in something so real.  To all who attended, participated and contributed to that day’s enormity, thank you for all that you are.

…and a special thanks to my hard working and compassionate sidekicks Teri Fiske and Michael Hanlon for your part in creating precious memories  from this most simple, most powerful day.

Laura and Jorge Posada recently hosted a launch party at NYC’s The National Restaurant to mark the arrival of their latest creation:  Cinco Anillos Sangria.  The name, Spanish for ‘Five Rings’ was used to pay tribute to the 5 World Series rings that Jorge accumulated over his 17 (and still counting) seasons with the New York Yankees.  What’s also worth noting is that a portion of the proceeds of all Cinco Anillos products will go directly to The Jorge Posada Foundation…a foundation whose purpose is to provide support to families and children who are affected by Craniosynostosis – a birth defect that causes abnormal formation of the skull.

As the Official Foundation Photographer over the past 3 years, I have seen how much genuine effort the Posada’s and their staff put into the cause.  …and how much progress they have made.  Hip Hip Jorge!!!  There is still more work to be done though, and I am confident that they remain wholeheartedly committed to the cause.  If you’d like to learn more about The Jorge Posada Foundation or how you can help, simply CLICK HERE.

I hope that this finds you all well.

I’ve recently wrapped another amazing season of Wedding Photography…a year marked by exploration and discovery, progress, perspective, gratitude and humility and above all, joy.  There simply aren’t words to describe how grateful I feel.  Thank you to everyone who played a roll.  You are unforgettable and undeniably pivotal.  A million times, thank you.

I thought that I’d re-emerge on the blogscene and introduce you to two beautiful people:  Kyla and Ryan.  Very much in love, shot through with goodness and easy on the eyes.  Yep.  The real deal.  Their wedding this past summer was a blast…creatively envisioned and impeccably executed by Laura Linder of Better Together Events of Rochester, NY and hosted at the famed Oak Hill Country Club (Site of the 2013 PGA Championship).  It was the best kind of day…marked by love, laughter and light.   Kyla and Ryan…thank you my dear friends.  It was a beautiful way to start a friendship :)

t (Destination Wedding Photographer)

Today I’m sharing a card I designed for Nikki & Mike, a wonderful couple who just married this fall. They were looking for a simple folded card to showcase an image Tom took with them holding cute wooden “Thank You” plaques they found for their wedding. I’ve shared pictures of our uniquely shaped tri-fold and accordion cards in past posts, but wanted to let you know we can do traditional 5″x7″ folded cards as well. :o)

Nikki and Mike chose standard paper, but we also offer watercolor, pearl or linen textured paper.

In addition to our 5″x7″, tri-fold, and accordion cards, we can also do 4″x5.5″ folded cards and 5″x5″ or 5″x7″ flat (postcard style) cards. All cards are custom designed, so anything is possible!

Oh my, it has been so very long, and now it is time for me to finally write another product entry for you, my goodness! What a crazyamazingbusy wedding season we had! And now, ’tis the season to design products! I hope all of you had a wonderful and gratitude-filled Thanksgiving, with lots of love and delicious food. :o)

Today I wanted to share an album from one of our lovely 2010 couples, Heather and Sean. I. LOVE. THEM. I’ve had the pleasure to work with them on multiple occasions… first I designed a guestbook for them (entry coming soon!), and then got to work on their lovely wedding album. We also used their wedding album design to create our studio sample Replica Book, since we loved their December wedding so much. What a beautiful celebration their wedding was, and their wedding images truly glow with the love and joy from that day. Thank you, Heather and Sean, for giving us the privilege of working with you and continuing to be such an amazing presence in our lives. :o)

Heather and Sean chose our beautiful 11″x14″ New Yorker wedding album, with an Argento silk cover and Opaline leather spine. Our New Yorker wedding albums come standard with 20 spreads/40 pages. Heather and Sean’s stunning album was slightly thicker, finishing at 23 spreads/46 pages.

Their album came delicately wrapped in kraft paper and handmade ribbon:

Heather and Sean chose Argento silk for their 8″x10″ guestbook as well, so their guestbook and album would match. Here are the two lovely books together:

The press-printed Replica Book has much thinner pages than the New Yorker wedding album. Couples often give these as parent albums or purchase them to have an extra copy of their album.

The 11″x14″ New Yorker versus our 8″x12″ size. We suggest the 11″x14″ size for the bride and groom, and the 8″x12″ size for parent albums.

I can still remember it like it was yesterday.  Summer.  1985.  My entire family glued to the television as an unseeded, 17-year old German tennis phenom by the name of Boris Becker disposed of American Kevin Curren in 4 sets to claim his first Men’s singles titles at Wimbledon.  From that moment on I was obsessed.  Not just with “Boom Boom” Becker but with the sport of tennis and the idea of someday competing on that level.  So I practiced.  …and practiced.  …and practiced.  Hitting balls with anyone who was willing and even taking to the occasional brick wall when no one was around (or willing!).  I would imagine myself serving for the set against John McEnroe, rocketing a forehand winner past Bjorn Borg to claim a 3rd set tiebreaker or walking to the net to console a defeated Boris Becker on my way to the trophy presentation.  Yep.  …the imagination of a child.

In the years leading up to high school, I had some success with the sport…even making my way up to City and Club Champ in Junior High.   …but then High School came and tennis wasn’t ‘cool’.  It was football and basketball that everyone was getting behind so I hung up the racket and donned the cleats in hopes of a College scholarship and fame and fortune in the National Football League.  Smooth move, ex-lax.

Now, I don’t believe in regret – it’s too heavy and completely counter-productive.  …but if I were given the opportunity to do something differently I would have to consider sticking with tennis way back then.   Who knows…might have been a fun ride?!?  Why am I telling you this!?!

Well, last month as part of my “pinch me so that I know I’m not dreaming” campaign, I had the opportunity to share the court with some of my childhood heroes.  Not to exchange ground strokes as my early dreams may have dictated, but to share my gift with them & the tennis world.  What a thrill!!! My heart was racing as I placed the press pass around my neck in the locker room of the John McEnroe Tennis Center on Randall’s Island in NYC, readied my gear and waltzed past Martina Hingis and Chris Evert on my way out to Center Court.  Surreal. Pinch me.

That day’s events would feature Martina Hingis, Chris Evert, Billie Jean King and a marquee match between John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg.  …and I had my Mark IV in hand and a green light to shoot what I saw.  C’MON MAN…WTF?!?!?

A million thanks to Mike Macchione and the fine people at Catch-NYC, and to John Dado and the entire staff and crew of the World Team Tennis‘ New York Sportimes for having me and granting me access.  Y’all made a little boy’s dreams come true :)

I am jumping out of my skin in excitement for this most prestigious honor!!!  The editors at Destination Weddings & Honeymoons Magazine along with a panel of photography professionals have selected me for inclusion in the magazine’s first ever A-List of Top Destination Wedding Photographers!  The ‘A-List‘ is a collection of 20 Photographers whom they deem to be the best in the business.  Now I would never DREAM myself worthy of such a title, but I sure am stoked that they did ;-)

The article is featured in the September/October issue of Destination Weddings & Honeymoons Magazine which is currently on newsstands nation-wide.  It is also  featured on their website which you can view by clicking here.  Be sure to check out the rest of the list while you are there…MANY of whom inspired my work and person over the years.  Industry folks who have become peers, but most importantly…friends.

If you know me then you understand the philosophy that governs the work that I am so fortunate to be doing.  This philosophy is simple:  What I do is a direct reflection of the people who offer up their unfiltered faith, trust and love.   …and for each and every one of these precious beings, I am grateful.  This recognition goes out to YOU.  …along with a promise to continue to give all that I have to everything that I do.  Empty the tank!

What a thrill!  …one of those ‘pinch me so I know that I’m not dreaming’ sorta experiences.

The 10th installment of the Rochester International Jazz Festival was by far it’s biggest and baddest.  9 days, 285 concerts spread out over 18 venues and an attendance that is estimated to have topped 185,000 people  secured Rochester’s space amongst the greatest summer towns that no one ever talks about.  I am proud to be associated with this event, proud of the many people who give tirelessly year-round to it’s success and mostly proud of this great city that I call home.  A million thanks to the festival producers Marc Iacona & John Nugent, Jean Dalmath and EVERYONE at Dalmath Associates, PhotoTeam leader Don Ver Ploeg and the hard working, creatives on the team for accepting me so openly and encouraging my madness.

It unbelievable to think that in a week’s time, I had my lens in front of Elvis Costello, kd lang, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Chris Botti, G Love & Special Sauce, Trombone Shorty, Grace Kelly, Bonerama, The Ryan Shaw Band, The Stephane Wrembel Trio and so many more.   Here are a few of my selects from the week that was.  Fair Warning:  This is a loong post :)

The results from the latest round of Fearless Image Awards have been released!  A truly awe-inspiring display of the talent & creativity that exists in the Wedding Photography Industry.  I am honored to be associated with this bold group of creatives, and STOKED to have two of my images deemed “Fearless”!  Thanks to all who participated for providing a wealth of inspiration.  …for pushing me continually to look for new and exciting ways to express myself and the fabulous couples who put their faith in me on their most important day.  I am eternally grateful :)
